Carrie Harper about selling art with Instagram

During my blog interview with Carrie Harper from the Kelowna #heARTschool I asked her if she finds Instagram helpful for selling her art. Here is what she had to say
Social Networking

This is mostly used for interaction between friends, old classmates and distant family members. Facebook is a great example of this, and is the most relaxed form of social activity, allowing you to see what others are up to, via posts, pictures and videos. Companies are also appearing on Facebook, allowing you to find products and services, and be updated for their latest promotions. LinkedIn is another form of social networking, but is more focused on the professionals, allowing you to connect with like-minded individuals in your industry and out.

Micro-Blogging

Micro-blogging is the online version of texting, allowing you to post short updates of what is happening, in your personal life or as a business. The most popular form of this is Twitter, introducing us to the world of tweets. This allows everyone to know what you are up to instantly, and your tweets have the ability to be shared by others, so for a business, it’s a great way to create awareness of your company.

Photo-Sharing

Photo sharing forms of social media such as Instagram and Pinterest are great for those companies who are more visual, and would benefit from people seeing their products, rather than reading about them. Posting images are an excellent form of social media, so if you are selling products that people want to see, a good example is a clothing range, photo sharing is the best way to get some sales in!

Blogging

Blogging is a great way to have up-to-date information for your customers. This can be in the form of an article, allowing people to comment and have a discussion about it. Having a blog on your website can allow people to read the latest information, whilst keeping the content fresh and new. There are now virtual forms of blogging as well, for example video blogging is known as ‘vlogging’; people who take to YouTube to express their feelings and news. Other types of bloggers take to Instagram, using images, for example fashion bloggers are able to share their fashion picks for thousands to see.

To have the best results for your business, you need to figure out what you want to gain from using social media. If you are wanting to sell a product, use them all, or if you are wanting to target a certain audience, decipher which form of social media they use the most.

Social media can massively boost your business, so for more help of how to do this, visit Urban Media in Salisbury who have a massive range of knowledge, or see their website for more information:
